Transportation "Glitches"

Dear Parents,

We have been having a few issues with transportation, so I wanted to clear up any misconceptions about our policies.

If your child will be transported by any form other than what we have on record, you MUST send me a note that morning (or before, if necessary/possible). I understand that my wonderful students are pretty responsible this year and probably can remember if you say you are picking them up from school that day, but others are not able to remember this, and so consequently I cannot go on what your child tells me - I MUST have a note - remember, your child is only 5 or 6! I hope you can understand that I would like to make it as easy as possible for you to get your child, but I must take the child's safety to heart and put them in their normal bus line unless I have it in writing that you are changing for the day. I have several students who are not allowed visitation rights with a noncustodial parent, and I would be devastated to make the mistake of allowing one of my students to go home with the wrong person. Please understand this - your child's safety is part of my job. That's why I require something in writing when you change transportation for your child. Thank you.
